Trainee Program

with Jessie Jeanne & Dancers in partnership with Boston Dance Theater

Now accepting applications for Sept 2018

In partnership with Boston Dance Theater, the JJ&D Training Project (TP) is a unique training program designed as a rigorous, part-time immersion experience for recent college graduates and pre-professional dancers who aspire to join a professional contemporary dance company.

Trainees are chosen for a year-long contract with Jessie Jeanne & Dancers (JJ&D). Trainees accepted into our program work 18 hours per week (12 studio hours + 6 administrative) with additional hours during performances and special events. Skills learned during those hours include contemporary technique and improvisation, partnering, repertory, teaching, and arts administrative. They learn these skills by taking Company dance classes, rehearsing, performing, shadow teaching in our residencies, working with the administration on tasks such as database management, marketing, managing and creating content for social media.

As a result of participating in TP, "graduate" will:

  • Emerge better informed and prepared to find success in the dance field and/or become a member of our Company

  • Further their development in choreography and contribute their voices to expand our repertory

  • Expand their knowledge of and experience with the business-side of a possible arts management career

  • Continue their pursuit of a professional dance career/or one day possibly direct their own dance company or studio.
