Caitlin Peeler (Dean College) and Laura Flanagan (Dean College) will make their debut as apprentices of Jessie Jeanne & Dancers, joined by special guest Talia Rothstein (Harvard University), at The Dance Complex Second Annual CATALYSTS show on Saturday, January 14th at 8pm.
Jessie Jeanne & Dancers will make a guest appearance with this year’s CATALYSTS artists-in-residents. For a second year, 2016-17 CATALYSTS artists-in-residence will perform at The Dance Complex for three weekends in January. This year’s artists, Ryan Casey, Lorraine Chapman, Junichi Fukuda, Yosi Karahashi, and Doppelgänger Dance Collective (DDC): Danielle Davidson and Shura Baryshnikov, represent classic and hybrid forms including tap, modern, and flamenco. More about the program.
Peeler, Flanagan, and Rothstein will perform Jessie Jeanne & Dancers' latest work-in-progress 'dusk'. The developing work engages the poetry of Rilke in a conversation between language, silence, movement, the body, and choreographic process. The resulting performance work weaves together three female archetypes who commune through beating hearts, breath, blood and will. Stinnett manipulates light to play with notions of invisibility, framing bodies, and capturing the moving image just as it slips beyond reach into darkness.
The work will continue to be developed and performed through out the spring of 2017 and will premiere at The Dance Complex in a split bill with Prometheus Dance, Peter DiMuro, Lorraine Chapman, and The Boston Conservatory April 28-30, 2017.
